About EG4 Electronics LLC
EG4 Electronics was founded in 2020 by James Showalter in Sulphur Springs, Texas, as an arm of Signature Solar and its parent entity Energy Access Innovations (EAI). The name stands for 'Energy Generation for Everyone,' reflecting its budget-accessible positioning. EG4 started by sourcing and rebranding solar batteries and inverters for the U.S. DIY solar market, then expanded into its own product lines including hybrid mini-split heat pumps.
EG4's product categories include LiFePO4 lithium batteries, hybrid and off-grid inverters, MPPT charge controllers, and mini-split heat pump systems. The mini-split line includes both standard AC-only models (SEER2 28.5-29.5) and hybrid AC/DC solar-assisted units (SEER2 22-22.5, Energy Star certified). EG4 also sells grid-tied hardware, microgrid interconnect devices, and balance-of-system components primarily through Signature Solar.
EG4 registered as an IRS Qualified Manufacturer effective January 1, 2025, enabling customers to claim the Section 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit on qualifying mini-split heat pumps using QMID H2M4. The 25C credit covers up to 30% of equipment cost, capped at $2,000 for heat pumps. Note that EG4's battery storage products fall under Section 25D, which does not require a QMID. EG4 competes on price against brands like MRCOOL and Pioneer, targeting DIY solar enthusiasts and off-grid homeowners.
UniColorado Heating & Cooling installs cold-climate heat pumps for Denver homes, providing professional installation and proven performance through Colorado's harsh winters.
