- Check a model
Two ways to read the same certified data. Switch any time; your choice is remembered on this device.
Check a heat pump’s certified ratings
Type the outdoor unit’s model number from its nameplate, or the AHRI reference number from your quote. You will see its ratings, how it compares with others of its size, and the rebate standards it meets.
Covers heat pumps sold new today (R-454B and R-32 refrigerant). See older R-410A models · Updated
Partial model numbers work. AHRI numbers find the pairing listed for each model.

Numbers are from one AHRI-certified pairing of this outdoor unit with an indoor unit, with ducted air handler RAV-HB181BTP-UL (it has 4 pairings; the one with the best 5°F efficiency is shown). It is sold with both ducted and ductless indoor units; in the rankings it is rated in each type with its best pairing of that type.

A model meets a standard when at least one of its certified pairings does. Programs can have other rules too.

Side by side with another model
Only models of the same size class (ductless, up to 1.5 tons) can be compared, so their numbers mean the same thing.
What size is my system?
Tons and Btu
A heat pump’s size is its rated cooling output, in Btu per hour. Installers talk in tons: one ton is 12,000 Btu per hour, so a 3-ton unit is about 36,000.
Where to find yours: the nameplate sticker on the outdoor unit lists the model number. Many model numbers include the size in thousands of Btu, such as 24 (2 tons), 36 (3 tons) or 48 (4 tons). Your quote or AHRI certificate also lists it. Look up a model number
