Questions

Who runs Rebate.Blue?
DotBlue LLC, a UniCo Group company. DotBlue also makes the other .blue tools: calc.blue, spec.blue, heatpump.blue and forecast.blue.
What is a QMID?
A QMID (Qualified Manufacturer Identification Number) is a 4-character alphanumeric code assigned by the IRS to manufacturers of energy-efficient equipment. Starting January 1, 2025, this code is required when claiming the 25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit on IRS Form 5695.
Is the QMID lookup free?
Yes. The QMID lookup, the heat pump insights and the Form 5695 guides are free and need no account or access code.
Where does the heat pump data come from?
AHRI certifications, the NEEP cold-climate heat pump list and ENERGY STAR. The methodology page explains how each figure is calculated.
What is the access code for?
The rebate processing platform is private. UniColorado Heating & Cooling, a sister company in Denver, uses it to file the rebate paperwork for its own installs. The public tools never need a code.
